Behind the table is the croupier, who is in charge of the game. The croupier is the one spinning the roulette wheel, dealing the chips and paying out if you win. Placing your bets
Before the game kicks off, you have to place your bet on the table. When time is up, the croupier will take the metal ball (also called ‘pills’) and place it in the spinning wheel. European Roulette
There are a few different ways to play roulette at casino’s and online casino’s. You can choose between the American, French and European roulette. Although these versions are similar, the big difference is that the European and French roulette only know the single zero. The American roulette wheel has one additional pocket (the double green zero).

European roulette is played at the roulettetable, on which you find different spots where players can place their chips. The roulette wheel can be found at the far end of the table and it features 37 numbers, number 0 is green and the numbers 1 until 36 are black or red.
Difference with American playstyle
The most important difference between American and European roulette is that the chance of winning is just a tad higher at the European game. That’s because this game features 37 numbers on the wheel and the American one has 38 as a consequence. A small difference, but nevertheless increases your chances of winning when playing European roulette.
Inside vs Outside
With European roulette you can choose between an inside bet and an outside bet. If you pick the inside bet, then you play entirely for the numbers ranging from 0 until 36. This could also be combinations if you get the chip exactly on the line between two numbers. In that case, you play for both. If you want some more certainty, you’d go for the outside bet. In that case you choose an even or uneven number or a black or red number. With an outside bet you can also go for a number that’s between group 1 until 18 or 19 until 36.
So it’s really all about the question: how do you want to play? If you want to play with lots of risk, you’d go for the inside bet. If you want to spread the risk, your best choice is to go for the outside bet.
